Tax Benefits
Property ownership does have a tax benefit in that a home used for business (rental) is depreciable at a rate of 27.5 years. This expense can be used against the annual rent revenues and often equates to the same value therefore creating the investment revenue to be income tax free.. The sale of the shares and all final sale of the property is taxed a capital gains tax and therefore much more attractive that income tax.
